Dear Community,

It’s been 2 ½ years since Roe v Wade was overturned, and we are celebrating our 24th year at A Baby’s Breath. We began with a mission: “…to help a mother to see her child take his/her first breath.” This mission had a Catholic charter to accompany it. As many volunteers have come and gone, this remains a sticking point for several Catholics who have come to join our mission despite its charter. Just like many church-going Catholics pick the beliefs they wish to adopt and dismiss those that they deem unnecessary to accomplish the mission, we have had ours, too.

One might think our organization would not proliferate as it has, but putting our trust in God has been our recipe for success. There are some Catholics who say, why not contraception? We would respond that almost every crisis client we help is on some form of contraception. The only 100% way to prevent a crisis pregnancy is abstinence. We like the term chastity because it is defined as “sexual self-control.” Even married couples who are trying to maintain peace in their home or have an emotional burden with a special needs child need to employ Chastity in their marriages through Natural Family Planning.

We offer Natural Family Planning free to all engaged or married couples. This is quite a savings, and we know that combined with our free pregnancy services, it offers economic relief for our crisis parents. Our Independence program continues to teach our Catholic ways by recommending choices that support a Catholic lifestyle. Our parenting classes have taught clients about Chastity, and as one client responded, “We never heard of that before.”

Our new volunteer General Manager at the home, Amy Curran, took on the task of surveying all of our 156 active crisis clients to see what questions they would need help with: 1) finding a job, 2) helping with forming a budget, 3) helping with updating their credit score 4) tutoring help or 5) learning about a Catholic/Christian lifestyle. The number one goal reported by our clients was learning about a Catholic/Christian lifestyle. Are we not serving our clients well if we don’t try to teach our Catholic/Christian lifestyle?

We help clients of all faiths learn the Catholic/Christian lifestyle because Christ told us to feed the sheep and teach the Gospel. I trust the Holy Spirit to be our partner in accomplishing our mission and charter.

We’re seeking support across our Warminster, Phoenixville, Collegeville, Jeffersonville, and Wayne centers. Our clients have expressed specific needs that you could help address:

  • Tutoring services
  • Budget and financial planning assistance
  • Resume writing support
  • Credit repair guidance
  • Helping to teach the Catholic/Christian lifestyle

Even if you’re new to these services but willing to learn, we provide training and guidance to help you get started. Whether you can spare a few hours weekly or monthly, your time would make a real difference in our members’ lives.

We’re delighted to share that we recently had the privilege of helping one of our clients’ families celebrate their child’s baptism. These meaningful moments remind us of our commitment to supporting our clients’ spiritual journeys. If any other families are interested in baptismal services for their children, please know we’re here to facilitate these important life events.

From spiritual milestones to everyday support, we’re committed to walking alongside our members in all aspects of their lives – and we welcome you to join us on this meaningful journey.
