Dear Donors,
Our big news this year is that we have become homeowners, not renters. After locking into a 10-year lease with our former landlord and spending over $100,000 to convert the space to provide housing, our building was sold without the ability to purchase the property. While this left us wondering why our Catholic mission was curtailed at the former Convent, we persevered to take a bold step in buying our own space. This was not easy in a tight real estate market – only one property in the borough of Phoenixville met our needs. Our strong financial records gave us the needed approval for a loan; however, we had difficulty finding a home-owners policy given the “pro-life climate.” We enlisted our prayer partners on our social media and, by the grace of God, settled on our new space on 11/1, on the Feast of All Saint’s Day.
Our approach to crisis pregnancies is unique; only one organization provides all that we do with volunteer leadership and without government support. A Baby’s Breath operates transparently, offering real help in a crisis pregnancy, which makes us unique in that approach. Our statistics have demonstrated our focus on helping not just Abortion-minded clients but moms, dads, families, and anyone affected by a crisis pregnancy as a well-received, well-supported approach.
Our core services encourage and support clients in choosing their lives, and our ultrasound service is critical to helping those on the fence. Statistically speaking, over 90% of our clients choose life and just need help with that choice. We do this through compassionate counseling that helps them to make better decisions. At each of our five centers, we have volunteer advocates trained to listen and give positive answers to questions about how to get through their crises. Our baby store program is the currency we provide for making better decisions.
A Baby’s Breath Independence services and program is another distinction about A Baby’s Breath in giving advice and financial rewards for those better decisions, the path towards freedom from another crisis pregnancy, and the path of their dreams for their family.
We are starting to teach other organizations the methods featured in Karen’s book, Creating Compassionate Places. Karen has trained seminarians to do the work of advocates and is inviting groups to tour the centers to see how one can provide Catholic Social Services to people who need help “…to see a mother take her child take his/her first breath.”
A Baby’s Breath is a 501(C)3 organization that is a model for social services. We have locations in Jeffersonville, Collegeville, Wayne, Warminster, and Phoenixville, PA.
We are incredibly proud to announce that Karen Patota has been awarded the Defender of Life award by the Valley Forge chapter of the Knights of Columbus. This award recognizes her unwavering dedication to protecting the lives of unborn children and supporting mothers facing difficult choices. Karen’s commitment to this cause is truly inspiring.
As we reflect on this year, we want to express our sincere gratitude for your contributions to A Baby’s Breath. Together, we can make a real difference in the lives of those facing unexpected pregnancies. We wish you a joyous holiday season and a prosperous New Year.
